How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 March 2019Difficult to rate a dictionary when there are few others on the market and I have no experience of them. I use this occasionally and it rarely lets me down. Perhaps not as inclusive as electronic dictionaries but much nicer to handle and to flip through.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 August 2017I'm sure this is a useful dictionary if you know the Hindi script, but I was looking for a dictionary with latin alphabet transcriptions of the Hindi words which this dictionary did not provide.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 September 2005An excellent dictionary for those learning English, not so helpful if you want to improve your Hindi. I had expected that this would be the companion volume to the Oxford Hindi-English Dictionary (R S McGregor) but this is not the case.
Many of the English words are not given equivalents but have their meanings explained in Hindi. To help those learning English there are examples of usage but these are not translated into Hindi.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 May 2014I am trying to learn Hindi and am approaching it from a speech perspective primarily. I haven't yet attempted to learn to write or read it in the Devenagari script as I use the Romanised script to learn vocabulary. Thus this dictionary, which only gives the Hindi words in the Devenagari script is beyond me just now. It may come in useful at a much later date but it's not serving my needs just now!

This dictionary a perfect for somebody, who wants do look for a Hindi word - if he can read the Devanagari script. And there are lots of meanings, also explained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended for the serious student of Hindi.
A quality publication worthy of having the Oxford brand attached to it. Comprehensive and exhaustive. Perfect for any student studying Hindi. My edition was hardcover and big, so it is not so useful if you are packing it to travel, but perfect for any linguists library.
