compétition de cyclisme
Les championnats de Grande-Bretagne de cyclisme sur route sont organisés depuis 1943 pour les hommes et depuis 1947 pour les femmes. Le vainqueur d'un championnat porte le maillot distinctif rouge-blanc-bleu de champion de Grande-Bretagne pendant une année. Le dernier vainqueur et détenteur actuel est l'anglais Fred Wright.

Histoire des championnats
modifierEntre 1943 et 1958, deux organismes - la British League of Racing Cyclists (BLRC) et la National Cyclists' Union (NCU) - organisaient des championnats se concurrençant.
De 1946 à 1958, les championnats de la BLRC étaient divisés en deux compétitions : une course amateure et un championnat « indépendant » pour les coureurs semi-professionnels. Les championnats féminins ont été créés par la BLRC en 1947 et par le NCU en 1956. En 1959, la NCU et la BLRC ont fusionné pour créer la Fédération britannique de cyclisme (British Cycling Federation).
Des championnats masculins distincts pour les amateurs et les professionnels ont été organisés de 1959 à 1995.
