[edit]From Middle High German loben, from Old High German lobēn or lobōn.
Cognate with Old English lofian, Old Norse lofa, Low German löven, Dutch loven, Swedish lova. More at lofe.
The verb loben is related to the noun Lob. It is not clear if the verb is derived from the noun or vice versa.[1]
