First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean 안〮히〮 닶〮갑다〮 (Yale: ánh-í tápskàp-tá), from Middle Korean (anh, inside) + 닶〮갑다〮 (tápskàptá, to be stifling).
