[edit]From А́ред (Áred), variant of Иа́ред (Iáred, “Jared (Old Testament patriarch who lived 962 years)”), from Ancient Greek Ἰάρετ (Iáret), from Biblical Hebrew יָרֶד (yā́reḏ), pausal form of יֶרֶד (yéreḏ).
