Etymology

Probably from Proto-Uralic *ćorɜ- (drip, flow, ooze) + -og (frequentative verb-forming suffix). This, however, is uncertain due to the onomatopoeic nature of the word.[1][2]

  1. (intransitive, of liquid or grain-like material) to trickle, dribble, run, flow, stream (to flow in a very thin stream or drop continuously)

  2. (intransitive, literary, of smaller river or stream) to trickle, babble
  3. (intransitive) to leak (of a leaky container or defective mechanism: to allow liquid or grain-like material to pass through an opening that should be sealed)
  4. (intransitive, sports) to drift (with pulled-in oars to allow a boat to be carried by the river's current)
