This information is mostly outdated. You can get various feeds by manipulating the parameters of Special:NewsFeed, especially the categories parameter. For example, https://en.wikinews.org/w/index.php?title=Special:NewsFeed&feed=atom&categories=Published%7CSports&namespace=0&count=15&stablepages=only will give you a list of latest published sports articles.
